David Evans asks on Monday, January 26, 2004 if it is true that Hitler played the piano in his youth

"Hitler's Typewriter"

Hitler played the piano?

I HAVE just completed the book Women of the Third Reich by Anna Maria Sigmund and in the chapter on Henriette von Schirach I found a curious bit of information.Hitler in Lederhosen

Henriette mentions as a child playing the piano in her home when Adolf Hitler drops by, sits beside her and starts to play the "Annenpolka".

Are you familiar with this book and do you know where and when Hitler learned to play the piano?

David Evans

David Irving replies:

HENRIETTE von Schirach (née Hoffmann) told me the same, when I interviewed her in the 1970s: about Hitler playing the piano for her. I was equally surprised, but she insisted it was true.
