Documents: David Irving accepts the BBC Invitation to Participate

London, October 21, 1997

Dear Nicholas

Thank you for your most interesting letter. You can of course count on my co-operation. It is an extraordinary story. I have been subjected to what I call a Global Vendetta by wealthy organisations, but fortunately I have many hundreds of supporters around the world (4,000 names on my list already) and we have succeeded in prising open the files of the Canadian, German, Australian, and other governments, which show these bigoted forces at work ("arrest that man!"). It is an amusing, not to say exhilarating, duel.

I am enclosing with this letter several items--which you can throw away instantly, if they're too much to digest--which will give you something of the flavour of my own particular global fight. The newsletter ACTION REPORT is of course written to the level of the people who are most affected.

The German-language item may amuse you most: it is a lampoon on Der Spiegel, who started the campaign against me in 1990, having serialised five (5) of my famous books in the previous twenty years. Then I turned out to be right. Their legal department is not amused by this publication, of which 20,000 have so far been issued world-wide and are being turned round by my global network, addressed to ministers, consuls, journalists, etc world-wide. As said, all very entertaining--were not families, reputations, and livelihoods at stake.

My movements: I am in the U.K. until November 13, when I go to New Orleans to speak, then down to Key West--my American base--for three weeks, returning here on December 9. Phone my people here to make an appointment (I am out most days researching at the PRO, British Library, etc).

Yours sincerely,

David Irving

Dear David

Thanks very much for seeing me. I forgot to ask for the dossier you found in Canada. But I feel I need to do a great deal more reading before seeing you again.

Yours sincerely

2.

London, November 1, 1997

Dear Nicholas

Here is one of the files of material, which includes near the front the 50pp. secret file on me supplied by the Board of Deputies of British Jews to the Canadian authorities through the League of Human Rights of the B'nai Brith Canada. (They admitted this in an affidavit, after I started proceedings for defamation, which were defeated as I was by then out of time.)

2. Channel Four has approached me, after we met, asking if I would participate in the "Nothing but the Truth" series, in which two barristers will argue a Freedom of Speech case (as I understand it). They will visit me to discuss this Monday afternoon.

Yours sincerely,

David Irving
