Stalin's son was not shot, he killed himself

You report (page 54, Sunday, December 19, 1999) that Stalin's oldest son Yakov Dzugashvili was shot in a Nazi concentration camp in 1943. This is a myth.

As captured records which I have seen in the U.S. State department archives show, he committed suicide in a prison camp after he was mercilessly taunted by British prisoners of war about his primitive habits. For obvious reasons the British and U.S. governments decided to seal this file.
