Photo Album of a WW2 British Army soldier

Crawford Service RecordTHIS is the beautiful four-inch-thick leather-bound album of Sergeant James Crawford, a British Army soldier, who enlisted in Chesterfield, England, on April 4, 1940, and saw service with the Army for the next twenty years in Germany, the Western Desert, East Africa, India and Burma, the British Army on the Rhine, and elsewhere in the British Empire.

In fact the Empire was built on the service of solid Englishmen like Crawford. See our gallery of individual photos and some whole pages from the album. NOTE the gallery contains only a short selection.

The album contains a total of 565 original photographs, including many scenes from his own service, and original photographs captured from enemy prisoners including several candid photos of Hitler, including scenes at Munich central railroad station, below (endorsed in German hand in pencil on the verso: "München (Absperrung)," and scenes from the Eastern front and Leningrad. One item is a press clipping about Driver Crawford "whose relatives live at 40 Greta Avenue, Carlisle, and who will broadcast at 8:20 this morning. He is stationed in India. He has taken part in the fighting in Burma."

Included with this offer is the original bound Certificate of Service of James Crawford
