Admiral Wilhelm Canaris

after a distinguished naval career in World War I and between the wars, headed Nazi Germany's military Intelligence and espionage agency, the Abwehr. He became a traitor to Nazi Germany; his treachery was revealed 1944-1945, and he was hanged in April 1945.
